Back when I first started learning guitar it was all books and magazines, fortunately now there’s absolutely loads of places you can learn online too. Here’s a list of my favourite sites to learn from…
As far as I’m concerned this is the best learning resource out there for any budding guitar players. Loads of free song tutorials, free courses, books (paid), theory. You name it, it’s all there.
This is a new find for me and while not yet as comprehensive as some of the other sites, the material that is there is excellent. It’s all free and I like the fact that Adrian picks more alternative songs than the usuals that you see on every other website – take a look here.
Rob Hampton’s site has been going for years. His tutorials are really thorough and has a really good strumming pattern list that covers a huge amount of songs. Rob has also got some great material for kids for anyone teaching theirs (like I am!).
Leeds’ finest Andy Crowley has some great lessons, in fact last time I checked he’d made over 100 free videos! That’s a pretty good starting point for anyone looking to learn how to play.
Dave Jones Guitar
Dave’s website is a great resource, not just because of his numerous video tutorials. Dave also provides tabs for his lessons, has book recommendations and also talks about RGT exams. Head on over to Dave’s guitar website.
So that’s my top 4, although it’s fair to say I’m always on the lookout for more – so if anyone has any that I’ve missed, please leave a comment!
